Captain José Luis Riva Acosta

He was born on October 16, 1966. He joined the Peruvian Naval Academy on March 01, 1987, graduating as Ensign on January 1, 1988.

He is a specialist in Special Operations. Graduated in the following programs: Basic Skydiving courses, Military Parachute Jumping with Chilean Military Personnel, Basic Intelligence, Free Fall Parachute, Demining Instructors, Basic Staff, Basic Air Intelligence, Research Techniques for Trainers-Legal Trade and Illicit Trafficking in Firearms, Command and Staff, Higher Program of Administration for Defense, Rescue in Collapsed Structures Light Level, Instructors, High Command. He has a Diploma in National Security and Defense. 

During his tenure ashore, he has served as Squad leader in the Special Operations Group Center, Squad Leader in the Zulú Detachment No. 5, Combat Squad Chief in the Operations Group Special Center, Chief of Operations in the Command and Control Office of Riparian Operations, Executive Commander of the Special Operations Group of the Orient, Deputy Chief of the School of Special Operations, Executive Commander of the Special Operations Group Center, Commander of the Special Operations Group North, Commander of the Naval Station of Special Operations, Commander of the Special Operations Center Group, Head of the Department of Education of CECOPAZ in the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Head of the Department of Conduction of the 9a.DIEMCFFAA in the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Commander of the Special Forces of the Special Command VRAEM, Staff Officer in the National Defense Secretariat, Staff Officer in the General Directorate of Naval Materials, Executive Director of Naval Arsenals.

In 2018 he was appointed Director of the Naval Health School.
