Rear Admiral José Martín Vía Mezarina

He was born on October 10, 1963 in Lima, Peru. He studied at La Salle School, at the end of his studies he entered the Navy on February 23, 1981, graduating on January 1, 1986 as Ensign of Frigate.

It is qualified in Special Operations. He has completed the Basic Military Parachute Course, the Skip Teacher Course in the Parachute School of the Army of Peru, the Correspondence Intelligence Course, the Basic Staff Course, the Urban Combat Course, the Command and Staff Course in the Superior School of Naval War, the Training of Joint Operations of Special Forces, and the V Special Course of the Joint Staff. He holds a Master's Degree in Development and National Defense from the Center for Advanced National Studies and a Master's Degree in Management from Senior Management at the National University Federico Villarreal.

During the time he served on board, he worked at BAP Villar and BAP Bayovar.

He has been Chief and Deputy Chief of Combat Squads - Special Operations Group Center, Deputy Chief of Squad FOE XII of the Strategic Reserve - Commander of Task Force 100, Official member of the Presidential Escort - President's Military House the Republic, Head of the Operations Department of the Special Operations Group Center, Second Commander of the Special Operations Group Center, Commander of the Special Group of Launches, Chief of the Third Section of the General Staff of the Special Operations Force, Head of the Office of Operations of the Command of Task Force 100, Commander of the Group of Special Operations North East and Commander of the Group of Special Operations.

He also served as military observer in the United Nations Peacekeeping Operation in Sudan, Commander of the Special Operations Station, Head of the Personnel Section of the 1st. Division of the General Staff of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces, Chief of the General Staff of the Commander of the Fifth Naval Zone, Chief of the General Staff of the Commander of the Special Operations Force, Commander of the Naval Base of Callao, and during the 2013 he served as Commander of the Special Operations Force.

On November 6, 2013, through Supreme Resolution No. 676-2013-DE / MGP, the government granted him the rank of Rear Admiral and continues to serve as Commander of the Special Operations Force. In 2015 he is assigned to the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.

In 2019 he assumes the position of Inspector of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces.
